The Funeral

Making funeral pricing transparent and accessible

Why The Funeral exists

Every year, hundreds of thousands of families in the UK face one of life's most difficult moments — arranging a funeral. And at the worst possible time, they're forced to navigate an industry where pricing is opaque, comparison is nearly impossible, and families often overpay simply because they don't know what's reasonable.

At the same time, independent funeral directors — the ones who genuinely care, who've served their communities for generations — are struggling to be found online. They're drowned out by large chains with bigger marketing budgets, even when their service and pricing are often better.

This isn't right.

Our Mission

We built The Funeral to solve both problems: give families the power to compare pricing and make informed decisions, and help independent funeral directors get discovered by the people who need them.

What we believe

  • Pricing should be transparent. Families shouldn't need to call five funeral directors just to understand what's reasonable. Costs should be clear, comparable, and published openly.
  • Independent directors deserve to be found. Quality and care shouldn't be overshadowed by marketing spend. We level the playing field.
  • Accreditation matters. We clearly flag NAFD and SAIF accredited funeral directors so families can easily find professionals who meet recognised industry standards.
  • Location matters. We built hundreds of city and region pages so families can find funeral directors in their area, not just the biggest national chains.

Who we are

The Funeral is built by people who believe pricing should be honest. We're not owned by a funeral director chain. We don't take commissions on enquiries. We're here to serve families and independent directors — not extract value from them.
